Independent Evaluation of the GCF’s Gender Approach (GENDER2025)
The Gender Approach Evaluation began with a synthesis of existing evidence in 2025 to lay the groundwork for a more comprehensive evaluation of the GCF’s gender strategies in 2026. The gender synthesis note was delivered to the Board at B.43 in October 2025, and its findings informed the design and scope of the ongoing 2026 gender evaluation.

Gender Synthesis: Approach
- A paper outlining the proposed approach for conducting a synthesis of the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) Gender Approach.
Gender Synthesis: Benchmarking Exercise
- To inform the evaluation of GCF’s approach to gender, the IEU undertook a benchmarking study examining how comparable climate and development finance institutions integrate gender considerations across their policies, operations, and investment portfolios.

- The approach paper provides a comprehensive overview of the evaluation’s context, objectives, scope, methodology, guiding questions, and planned activities.
