IEU at COP30

The Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) will participate in the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, from 25th November to 6th December 2025.

At COP30, the IEU will take part in the Evidence for Climate Action (E4CA) Pavilion, where it will present findings from several recent evaluations, including the Independent Evaluation of the Relevance and Effectiveness of GCF’s Investments in the Latin American and Caribbean States (LAC2024), the Independent Evaluation of the GCF’s Approach to Country Ownership, the Independent Evaluation of the GCF’s Approach to Indigenous Peoples (IP2024), and findings from its performance reviews of the GCF. In addition to its E4CA Pavilion sessions, the IEU will also contribute to joint Four Climate Funds events with the GEF, CIF, and Adaptation Fund. These will feature discussions on topics such as programmatic approaches, resilience, forestry, and the use of artificial intelligence in evaluation. Through these engagements, the IEU will share evaluative evidence and lessons that can inform ongoing and future climate investments within the GCF and across the climate finance landscape.
