The IEU will take part in the IEU at Green Climate Fund Regional Programming Dialogue with Asia and the Pacific taking place 7 - 11 August in person in Songdo, Republic of Korea. During the event the IEU will host the following two side events:

Evaluation Policy for the GCF

The Evaluation Policy for the GCF requires that AEs conduct and submit project interim- and final evaluations to the GCF, in relation to all approved GCF projects and programmes in accordance with the MAF (paragraph 22, Evaluation Policy for the GCF). And the IEU has developed training modules for evaluation capacity-building for AEs and will plan to showcase some content of these training modules at the side event, including evaluation methods and approach, theory of change, data collection, evaluation costing and budgeting.  

In short, this side event will briefly introduce the Evaluation Policy for the GCF, focusing on its provisions most relevant to the AEs, and cover the topics of evaluation methods and approach, ToC, data collection and evaluation costing and budgeting.  

To ensure that the side event is interactive, the programme will include an open Q&A session as well.  

IEU Evaluation Findings from the Second Performance Review of GCF and Independent Synthesis of Direct Access in GCF

Speakers: Genta Konci, Evaluation Specialist, Independent Evaluation Unit, GCF' and Yeonji Kim, Knowledge Management and Uptake Specialist a.i, Independent Evaluation Unit, GCF 

In this side event, IEU will present the key findings from its Second Performance Review of GCF (SPR), which assessed GCF’s performance in GCF-1 period and identified areas of improvement for GCF-2. Further, IEU will share its key learnings from the 2022 Independent Synthesis of Direct Access in the GCF, which assessed the relevance and effectiveness of GCF’s direct access modality.  After briefly presenting the key takeaways from the two IEU evaluations, IEU will give the AEs and NDAs an opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts and react to what was presented by the team.
