The Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) hosted a side event highlighting findings from two impact evaluations conducted under its Learning-Oriented Real-Time Impact Assessment (LORTA) programme on the margins of the Green Climate Fund’s 45th Board meeting (B.45):

  • FP101 – Resilient Rural Belize (Backyard Gardens)
  • FP034 – Building Resilient Communities, Wetland Ecosystems and Associated Catchments in Uganda.

The session showcased evidence from the ground on how GCF-funded adaptation projects are contributing to climate resilience and improving outcomes for vulnerable communities.

Drawing on rigorous impact evaluation methodologies, the findings provided insights into project effectiveness, learning for adaptive management, and the conditions that enable successful climate adaptation interventions. By bringing together evidence from Belize and Uganda, the event contributed to broader discussions on results, learning, and accountability in climate adaptation financing, while demonstrating the value of generating timely evidence to inform project implementation and decision-making.
