IEU Workplan 2025
As part of its workplan approved by the Board at B.40, the IEU has laid out its ambitious agenda for 2025. As part of the 2025 IEU workplan, the Board has approved the following evaluations:
- Early Warning Systems: The evaluation of Early Warning Systems aims to assess the GCF's interventions in climate information and early warning systems. The findings from this evaluation are scheduled to be submitted at the first Board meeting of 2026.
- Country Ownership: The Country Ownership evaluation will explore how effectively the GCF promotes country-driven processes and supports national climate priorities, building on the Country Ownership Approach assessed in 2019. The results of this evaluation is scheduled for submission by B.43.
- Simplified Approval Process (SAP): The evaluation of the Simplified Approval Process (SAP) will assess its relevance and effectiveness in ensuring easier access to GCF resources and in addressing the needs of countries. The findings from this evaluation are scheduled to be submitted by the B.42 meeting.
- Gender Approach Evaluation: The Gender Approach Evaluation will begin with a synthesis of existing evidence in 2025 to lay the groundwork for a more comprehensive evaluation of the GCF’s gender strategies in 2026. The synthesis note is expected to be available by the end of 2025, with the final evaluation report scheduled for 2026.
- Third Performance Review (TPR) of the GCF: The Third Performance Review (TPR) of the GCF will initiate a multi-year review to evaluate the GCF’s progress during its second replenishment period (GCF-2) and provide insights to inform the third replenishment process. This comprehensive review is set to commence in 2025, with the final report expected to be completed in early 2027.
The tender process for selecting the firms that provide technical support for these evaluations is expected to be launched in accordance with respective timelines. Interested parties may kindly pay attention to the GCF’s procurement website for further notice.
