IEU at UNFCCC Africa Climate Week 2023

The IEU will take part in several events at Africa Climate Week 2023, taking place in person from 4 - 8 September in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Africa Climate Week is one of four Regional Climate Weeks held this year to build momentum ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 28 in Dubai and the conclusion of the first global stocktake, designed to chart the way for fulfilling the Paris Agreement's key goals. Hosted by the government of Kenya, ACW 2023 will be organised in parallel with the African Climate Action Summit (4-6 September), also hosted by Kenya.

Improving Climate Finance for Africa: Evaluative Lessons from GCF, Africa Climate Week 2023

Description:
This panel discussion will introduce audience members to key findings from GCF-IEU’s African states evaluation and findings related to GCF effectiveness in providing simplified and improved access to funding at a national, sub-national, and regional level through direct access. It will look at the degree to which the GCF has met financial, technological and capacity-building needs in the area of Africa’s green energy transition, issues of direct access for the GCF, and what these learnings mean for accelerating progress towards the 1.5C target.
