Wed, 8 June | 4:15 PM - 5:45 PM CEST. Transformational Climate Action.
This round table built on the work of the Climate Investment Funds-supported Transformational Change Learning Partnership and shares emerging understandings of the different dimensions of transformational change; questions to guide transformational change; signals of transformational change; and evaluative and learning processes that strengthen, deepen, and drive transformational change. The round table explored these topics in the explicit context of climate change mitigation, resilience, and adaption systems change initiatives being supported by major global climate finance institutions.
Thurs, 9 June | 11:05 AM - 12:35 PM CEST - Climate Change Adaptation: From Evaluation to Action.
The increasing severity and frequency of climate events across the globe demonstrate the urgency for adaptation action. With more financing being directed at adaptation, it is vital to learn from the past. Evaluation has a role to play and panelists discussed how different organizations make use of evaluation findings to inform adaptation action. The roundtable drew on the evaluations of the IEU, DEval, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Investment Bank.
Thurs, 9 June | 12:40 PM - 1:40 PM CEST - From Neutral Observers to Advocates, Truth Speakers, and Agent Provocateurs: What Role Should Evaluators Play? Reflections Around Evaluations Policies.
The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda brought about specific challenges around evaluating contribution. This session brought together evaluators from GCF, OECD, WFP, TEG Adaptation Fund, IFAD, and FAO to reflect on how evaluation functions are transforming to respond to these challenges through the revision of their evaluation policies. Building on the experiences of a range of full-fledge evaluation functions with design and early learnings from operationalizing revised/new Evaluation policies, the proposed panel reflected and shared their vision and benefits on the role and contribution of the evaluation policies in transforming evaluation systems to address current challenges.
Friday, 10 June | 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM - Small Islands, Big Finance, and Climate Change: Evaluations of the Green Climate Fund in the Small Island Developing States.
