IEU Learning Talk: Programmatic approaches in environment and climate – what can the GCF learn from other multilateral agencies?
Online
23 August 2022
The IEU held a Learning Talk on programmatic approaches in environmental and climate finance on 23 August, at 10 AM KST.
Programmatic approaches can provide strategic, long-term and coordinated responses at the regional or global scale as recognized in the GCF’s Governing Instrument. Yet, alignment with NDCs, NAPs as well as ensuring coherence and complementarity can pose challenges to institutionalising these approaches.
This Learning Talk, convened by the Independent Evaluation Unit, provided a forum to debate progress on the GCF’s policy on programmatic approaches. The talk offered insights from the Global Environment Facility on how programmatic approaches can work in a multilateral context. It also outlined the progress made to date with the GCF’s policy on programmatic approaches.
Panelists:
- Carlo Carugi, Senior Evaluation Officer, Independent Evaluation Office of the Global Environmental Facility
- Ben Vickers, Senior Specialist, Land-use, Forests and Ecosystem, Division of Portfolio Management of the Green Climate Fund
- Yeonji Kim, Communications Officer, Independent Evaluation Unit of the Green Climate Fund
Moderated by Martin Prowse, Evaluation Specialist, Independent Evaluation Unit of the Green Climate Fund.
