The IEU is turning 7!

The IEU was established by the Board of the Green Climate Fund on 13 February 2014. Since then, the IEU has been operating independently as a core structure of the Fund.

The IEU is mandated to inform the Board's decision-making and to identify and disseminate lessons learned; to conduct periodic independent evaluations to assess the performance and results of the GCF; and to provide evaluations reports to the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the purposes of periodic reviews of the Financial Mechanism of the Convention.

Since 2014, the IEU has completed eight evaluations and is currently finalizing the Independent Evaluation of the Adaptation Portfolio and Approach of the GCF.

The IEU has also produced several high-quality evidence reviews, learning and working papers, and has collaborated with various experts of the field to produce studies on evaluation and climate change.
