IEU Contributes to CIF Evaluation and Learning Initiative Advisory Group Meeting
The Independent Evaluation Office (IEU) participated in the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Evaluation and Learning (E&L) Initiative Advisory Group Meeting held on March 26-27, 2024, at the EBRD Headquarters in London. With a focus on reviewing current activities and discussing the 2025 workplan, the meeting provided a platform for rigorous discussions and strategic planning.
Throughout the two-day gathering, the Advisory Group actively participated in shaping discussions and providing insights. The Advisory Group also met with CIF CEO Tariye Gbadegesin, and shared reflections on the strategic role of evaluations and learning in climate action. Leveraging its expertise in evaluation methodologies, the IEU reviewed updates regarding E&L activities, strategic directions, and workplans for the fiscal year 2025. The IEU and the CIF further reflected on shared lessons from evaluations, communication, capacity building, and lessons learned from programming as well as evaluation activities.
The independent Advisory Group of the CIF Evaluation and Learning Initiative includes representatives from MDBs, donors, recipient countries, CIF Observers, and other climate funds. The Advisory Group guides and shapes the work of the CIF E&L Initiative. Further, the GCF IEU is expected to actively participate in relevant international evaluation networks to ensure that it is at the frontier of evaluation practice and that it benefits from relevant initiatives undertaken by other evaluation units. The IEU’s Archi Rastogi serves as a member of the Advisory Group as a representative of climate funds.
