IEU and DPM provide training on Evaluation Policy to JICA

On December 9, following a request from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA),The Green Climate Fund's Division of Portfolio Management and IEU organized a joint training for JICA officers on the newly adopted GCF Evaluation Policy. IEU was represented by Daisuke Horikoshi, Principle Evaluation Officer, and DPM – by Vladislav Arnaoudov, Senior Quality Assurance and M&E Specialist. The training covered the key requirements of the policy in relation to AE-led evaluations, the application of the evaluation standards and the key elements included in the Evaluation Guidelines which are currently being drafted by the GCF Secretariat in cooperation with the IEU.

The final part of the training was conducted as an open discussion where participants could explore the differences between the JICA evaluation approach and the GCF policy requirements.

This was the first such training following the entry of the Evaluation Policy into effect in May 2022 and showed how the GCF Secretariat and IEU can jointly support GCF partners in strengthening evaluation capacity.
