About the event

This IEU virtual talk focuses on the growing sustainable bond market. Sean Kidney is the CEO of Climate Bonds Initiative, an organization working to mobilise the $100 trillion bond market for climate change solutions. In this talk, he takes us through recent developments in the sustainable bond market and discusses the potential the market holds. He is joined by Dr. Jyotsna Puri (Jo), former IEU Head and current IFAD Director, who will discuss the role that multilateral funds could play in the sustainable bond market.

Sean Kidney, CEO, Climate Bonds Initiative

Sean Kidney is CEO of the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), an international NGO working to mobilize global capital for climate action. CBI's projects include sustainable investment definitions and certification; working with central banks on how to grow green bonds; market development programmes on six continents; and supporting the European Commission’s Taxonomy of Sustainable Finance, and the International Platform on Sustainable Finance. Sean is also a Professor in Practice at SOAS University of London.

Dr. Jyotsna Puri (Jo), Director of the Environment, Climate, Gender, Youth, Nutrition and Social Inclusion Division (ECG) at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

Dr. Jyotsna Puri (Jo) at IFAD leads a team that is responsible for evidence-informed advice on programme designs and implementation, contributing to resource mobilization, and supporting IFAD’s global remit in providing state-of the art policy advice related to these topics. Jo has worked previously at the GCF-IEU, 3ie, UNEP, the World Bank and UNDP. She is also adjunct associate professor at Columbia University, New York.
