Approach paper: Evidence review on market-based approaches to mitigation and adaptation

A large gap exists between current climate finance flows and the investments needed for climate mitigation and adaptation. The need for investment, in combination with the GCF’s mandate, means the GCF is well positioned to take a leading role in private sector climate finance. However, global evidence on key market-based approaches is scattered across different actors, silos and sectors.

This approach paper explains the objectives of the evidence review on our four market-based approaches. The approach paper outlines a theory of change and presents the methods used. It provides details of the literature search, the databases to be explored, as well as the data collection and analysis procedures. An appendix includes the search terms for the review.
