Speakers during the plenary addressed a range of issues:

  • Developing innovative financial opportunities and instruments to fund sustainable forest and land management and restoration is a key part of the sustainable landscape recipe, particularly those aimed at smallholders and sustainable value chains.
  • Shifting the focus away from grants and donations from governments and philanthropic organizations, and in increasing involvement from the private sector in profitable and productive ways.Identifying practical steps for leading companies, experts and institutions to create new approaches to landscape finance, and trigger the imagination of the audience for how those can be replicated and applied at a large, impacting scale.
