What’s New with the IEU

Dear colleagues,

In this edition of What’s New with the IEU, we are featuring a goodbye video from Dr. Jyotsna Puri (Jo). Jo will be moving on to another exciting challenge. The 26th Meeting of the GCF Board was her last Board meeting to attend as the Head of the IEU.

From day one, Jo was instrumental in the creation and success of the IEU, building a small one-person team into a vibrant unit. While we are excited about Jo's new adventures, her energy and vision will be deeply missed by the entire unit. Thanks, Jo, for your leadership and the delivery of the Fund's evaluation function with infectious energy and a smile!

Fond Farewell

Dr. Jyotsna Puri (Jo) will be leaving the GCF and the IEU after 3.5 years as its Head. Jo was the first Head of the GCF's Independent Evaluation Unit and was responsible for growing the IEU to an ambitious and evidence-driven team.

LORTA DESIGN WORKSHOP

On September 28th, the IEU's LORTA team led the first session of the LORTA Design workshop. In this 8-week online learning programme, participants are exposed to the different approaches to measuring impact, with a focus on experimental and quasi-experimental designs based on a theory of change.

The LORTA Design workshop is designed to support selected GCF-funded projects, accredited entities, project managers, and M&E teams to measure the impact of their projects.

SIDS EVALUATION WEBINARS

From October 6th to the 8th, we will be hosting a series of webinars on emerging findings and recommendations from our evaluation of the relevance and effectiveness of GCF investments in the Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Please reach out to ieu@gcfund.org for an invite. The report will be finalized for submission to the Board at B.27.

IEU Virtual Talk

September IEU Virtual Talk: This month featured a discussion with IEU's partner, the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics. We were joined by Dr. Nathanial Peterson who explored how behavioural science can be used to mitigate climate shocks, using a case study about crop insurance referrals in Malawi and Zambia.
